Merlyna is a brilliant woman who lost her limbs to sepsis and has gone on to be a powerful speaker, making a huge impact in this world. She shares messages with others that speak to the limitless possibilities people with disabilities possess. Using her book, “Daisy”, she also speaks to adults and shares messages with students on accepting ones’ differences. She promotes inclusive environments with her powerful story of persevering and reminding others to accept and celebrate ones’ differences. She inspires adults to prove what's possible in the face of daunting obstacles through her keynotes—virtually and in person.
Merlyna won Inspirational Speaker of the year from Canada's Speaker Slam. She held weekly motivational Moments with Merlyna Valentine sessions online to inspire everyone during the pandemic to take the time for self-care, self-reflection, and acceptance. She virtually spoke to multiple groups of students, teachers, and administrators about her story of overcoming adversity, persevering, and the importance of inclusive mindsets.
We asked Merlyna if she would like to add anything else to her accomplishments, and she stated: “Since my retirement as a 30-year educator, I’ve devoted my time to educating audiences all over the world. Through my hundreds of keynotes, podcast interviews, social media, numerous media opportunities, and mentoring, I share my personal battles with overcoming adversity and learning to thrive in life.
